Card Commerce wins Irish Exporters Association Award

November 24 2006

Card Commerce, the Dublin-based gift card company, was awarded the First Flight Exporter Award 2006 by the Irish Exporters Association at a dinner in O’Reilly Hall, University College Dublin on 22 November 2006.  Mr Michéal Martin, T.D., Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, was guest speaker at the ceremony and presented the award.

The First Flight Exporter award recognises the achievements of companies which have been successful in entering export markets for the first time.  The award was open to companies involved in the First Flight Export Programme organised by Enterprise Ireland and the Irish Exporters Association.

Card Commerce impressed the judging panel with its innovative plastic card-based gift vouchers which it exports to the UK.  Exports already account for 45% of its turnover and the company has ambitious plans to expand into Nordic countries, Central Europe and Spain next year.

The company’s Marketing Director, Scott McInnes said today,”We won this award because our business model and strategy have both been developed to take full advantage of emerging export markets.  We are one of only a few solution providers in the prepaid debit market who can offer true end-to-end support to our customers, from design of their programme to deployment and delivery.  We work with best-of-breed partners to deliver our service – from technology development and hosting to card design, production and localisation; and logistics management.”

From a revenue perspective, Card Commerce has chosen to adopt a channel partnership approach to bring the PayPlus service to market.  Selected from the EPOS, Acquiring and Payment Bureau sectors, its partners have the ability to deliver a large number of qualified customers.  In return, the addition of Card Commerce’s prepaid debit solution to their portfolios gives them a broader product offer in their respective markets.

Scott McInnes continued, “The fact that Card Commerce has been recognised by an expert judging panel; led by Sir George Quigly, Chairman of Bombardier and including the Irish Exporters Association and Enterprise Ireland; is a validation that our strategy for growth in this sector is the right one.”
